Llano Bug

Kevin Hutchinson developed the Llano Bug for Texas’s Llano River. It is an all-purpose terrestrial fly pattern that can imitate a number of different bugs depending on the size and color you tie it. Sunfish and bass love these flies! They are a go-to pattern for me during the summer months when panfish focus heavily on terrestrial insects. I fish them as a stand-alone fly or suspend a subsurface fly for hopper/dropper techniques.

Listed here are six (6) size 10 Llano bugs tied with tan foam and a two-tone gold/tan dubbed underbody. The fly also has a bright chartreuse foam indicator to help you keep track of the pattern on the water’s surface.
