The STP Frog, or Swimming Topwater Popping Frog, is a weedless, multi-colored frog imitation. Tied with two layers of foam you have the ability to realistically imitate a frog’s light colored belly and darker back. The foam shapes are created by using foam cutters manufactured by River Road Creations. They are available on a set or three individual sizes (10, 6, &2).

Originally tied with rubber legs front and back , in this version I swapped out the rear rubber legs and replaced them with Cohen’s Frog Legs. I think this upgrade gives the fly a more realistic profile when floating at rest in the water. To make the fly weedless a mono weed guard is used. I also like to add a mono loop at the back of the fly to help stabilize the frog legs and add a convenient tie in point for adding a dropper.
