For 30 years, Doug Ewing has been raising hackle birds for the commercial and personal use of the fly tying industry/community. A specialist in managing feather quality control for fly tying purposes, he has kept his flock pure by only raising white and barred grizzly birds. He offers flytyers not only natural white and grizzly hackles, but bleaches grizzly necks to offer three base colors; very much like bases in paint stores these days. To satisfy every tying need from minutiae to the largest billfish feather patterns, all three base necks are available in 25 dyed colors, providing tiers with a selection of 78 distinct color combinations; solid, barred and variegated. And, these are available in every EWING feather product available. "Premium Hackle for Less Money" - That has been the Ewing motto since 1989.
